Born and raised in New Orleans, Chuck Bergeron’s professional career spans over 40 years, and includes collaborations with many top artists in the field of jazz. He has toured, performed, or recorded with such legends as Randy Brecker, Stan Getz, Joe Williams, Arturo Sandoval, Elvis Costello, Wycliffe Gordon, Sheila Jordan, Dee Dee Bridgewater, James Moody, John Abercrombie, Jeff Hamilton, Manhattan Transfer’s Janis Siegel and Cheryl Bentyne, Paquito D’Rivera, Kevin Mahogany, Bob Moses, Cyrille Aimee, Tom Harrell, Freddie Cole, Bob Mintzer, John Abercrombie, Ed Calle, Peter Erskine, Rick Margitza, Dave Grusin, and many others. Chuck is also an alumnus of both the Woody Herman and Buddy Rich Big Bands.

As a bandleader, Chuck directs The South Florida Jazz Orchestra, a critically-acclaimed big band based in Miami. Their most recent release – Cheap Thrills – presents compositions and performances by Miles Davis saxophonist Rick Margitza, and features Grammy-winning artist Brian Lynch and the always incredible John Hart.

As an educator, Dr. Charles Bergeron is currently Professor of Jazz Studies and Program Director for Jazz Pedagogy at the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music.

He is also Program Director for the Jazz Aspen Academy, working in partnership with Artistic Directors Christian McBride and Etienne Charles.
